Control the pace.

Motion should support orientation while keeping content useful when still.

Main switch and speed

Open Theme settings → Motion. Enable interface motion is the theme-wide switch. Motion speed ranges from 70% to 130%, default 100%. Supported durations are multiplied by this value: 130% takes longer and is slower.

This does not set the slideshow interval or scale every independent animation. Change slides every sets autoplay timing. Start at 100% and judge the result with actual content.

Keep this section still

Where available, Keep this section still disables motion for that section. It is not on every section: check the reference. Use it for a calm chapter or to isolate a distracting effect.

Visitors’ reduced-motion preferences provide an additional safeguard. Content and controls must remain available. Background video has separate playback controls; verify pause and autoplay rather than assuming the interface switch covers all media.

Check each state

  1. Scroll through the whole page and navigate with the keyboard. Essential content must not remain hidden.
  2. Disable interface motion and repeat.
  3. Restore the switch, enable the browser or operating system’s reduced-motion preference and repeat.
  4. Test slide changes, video pause, drawer opening and focus return separately.
